Description
Mare Orientale, meaning "eastern sea" in latin, is a lunar geographic feature residing on the western border between the near and the far side of the moon. The region is the closest to the earth-facing side of the moon as the terraforming process has reached to date. Although the process of terraforming Mare Orientale has begun, it is still in its early stages and the air is not yet breathable for more than 3 hours by most estimates. Although the region is marked as off-limits to the public, it is not uncommon for civilians to attempt to reach the central basin (the center and lowest point) of the mare. This is due to the concern that the terraforming process will eventually eradicate the more distinguished features of the mare.
